Aare ravine

zu Aareschlucht

We as holdovers from the ice age find a powerful rock embankment, the Kirchet, between Innertkirchen and Meiringen. A long time ago when deep glaciers reached the valley there were deep cuts made in the rock under the ice. Debris and water further worked as a relentless abrasive file and the Aare ravine arose during millennia.

Rosenlaui Glacier ravine

At Rosenlaui you can experience the strength and power of the water, which is one of the natural wonders found in the Alps.

The water forces its way through the rocks with tremendous strength in the glacier formed  ravine, Rosenlaui. This is a natural phenomenon that intoxicates and refreshes the mind. The Alps have unfolded themselves around 70 million years ago. Since then the snow and water of the near Rosenlaui glacier, the Weissen river, eats itself into the rock and has formed the ravine.
