About us

Who are we?

Our hotel is family run, currently by the fifth generation of Urweiders. The hotel is nestled in the midst of the fascinating Alpine surroundings of the Hasli Valley of the Bernese Oberland and offers a welcoming atmosphere and comfortably outfitted rooms with showers, bathrooms, and satellite television. In the evenings you are welcome to join us in our Restaurant to bid the day farewell in the company of first class wines and cuisine.

At Restaurant Urweider, your meals are prepared personally by chef and owner.

feinheimisch

We take pride in the quality of our culinary creations, and we source our fresh, local products from the Bernese Oberland. We know the origin of every one of our ingredients, and you won’t find any artificial flavors or additives in our kitchen.

We import our specially selected wines exclusively from the Piedmont region of northern Italy, and we taste the wines directly at the vineyard to ensure quality. It’s not just the wine which is important to us, but also the people who create it. Like a soil’s ability to influence the taste of produce, we think a little bit of the personality and the work ethic of the vintners is present in each bottle. Just as there are charming people, there are charming wines, and we are confident that we’ve selected the best wines for your enjoyment.

The Piedmont region is located in northern Italy, bordering both Switzerland and France. Encompassing over 25,000 square kilometers, it is home to 4.3 million residents, and is composed of 8 provinces; The capital Turin, Cuneo, Asti, Alessandria, Novara, Vercelli, Biella, and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. The region is not only famous for it’s wine, but also for the distinctive white truffle found there, the Tartufo, the largest and most prized of which is put on the auction block at the annual truffle market in Alba.
